4. Inspiration To DAZ Studio 3D Art
What can be created
using DAZ Studio? Discover everything from sci-fi, fantasy to
female art, nude art and more... Only your imagination is the
limit!
In this short video,
we'll unveil some common questions about 3D Art, how it makes
you operate like a movie director with cameras, lights and
actors, and why it's really called 3D art, when the final images
are indeed "flat".
Learning a new
software can be intimidating, although DAZ Studio is very easy
to learn. Over the years, I've discovered that you don't need to
learn everything, and can instead quickly gain traction and get
beautiful results by focusing on a few key tools and areas in
DAZ Studio. Learn all about that in this video:
Somestimes you'll
want to install content manually. In fact, I always do that
since it offers 100% control and is very easy too. In this video
you'll learn exactly how to do that:
8. Intro To DAZ
Studio Cameras
Moving around with
the 3D camera(s) is one of the first things you'll want to
master, since it enables you to navigate your scene, get closer
to the things you want to adjust and also pick what you want to
see in the final image:
9. The Easiest Way To Set Camera
DOF (Depth Of Field)
DOF, Depth Of Field,
is a photography term which means that parts (background and
foreground) of your image are blurry, while a narrow part is
sharp. In this video you'll learn a neat trick for adjusting
this with ease:
10. 4 Ways Of Lighting In DAZ Studio
Lighting is 90% of
your art, and will either make it or break it. Therefore,
lighting is something I focus on when teaching 3D art. In this
video, you'll discover the 4 main ways of using lights in DAZ
Studio:
11. The Easiest Way
To Get Great Looking Lighting
Since lighting is so
important, I want to quickly teach you an easy way to get
instantly great looking DAZ Studio images. Lighting is of course
a massive topic, but this neat little trick with get you very
far:
12. DAZ Studio Iray Fundamentals
Iray is
Nvidia's superb render engine (that what creates the final
images and makes them look realistic) and it's built in right
into DAZ Studio. In this video you'll learn the basics and some
useful adjustments:
13. Intro To DAZ Studio Iray Global
Ilumination
Global Illumination
is the default DAZ Studio Iray render light set up for outdoor
renders, but it can also be used indoors or for studio renders
if sufficient light enters your scene:
14. Using Stunning HDRI's For Your
Renders
Using so called
HDRI's (High Dynamic Range Images) in your renders is a popular
way to quickly get beautiful lighting and a 360 degree scenery /
background in one. It comes with some limitations and in this
video you'll learn the basics to get you going:
15. Perfect Mad Max Look Inside DAZ
Studio
In today's video
we'll have some fun with a car in a desert setting while also
throwing in some cool fog effects using Photoshop:
16. How To Create
Masks In DAZ Studio
Masks are useful
black and white renders that can be used for controlling various
parts of your main images in Photoshop (or other 2D graphics
applications):
17. Amazing Time Saving Post Work
Photoshop Trick With Live Adjustments
Sometimes it can be
useful to render your images in parts, so called layers. Each
layer can then be further adjusted in post work as well as live
adjusted and combined with other layers to save time and give
you incredible control:
18. That's It!
What's Next?
Awesome, congrats of
getting through these intro videos!
Right now, you've
got a pretty good overall picture of DAZ Studio, and if you like
it so far, then I have something very special for you in store.
There are 3 main
elements in 3D Art that make a HUGE impact: lighting, camera and
post work. Having these 3 in place, you'll be skilled enough to
tackle any images in any genre.
But there's
something else most new artists struggle with that normal video
tutorials won't help with.
Confidence and
support.
Confidence comes
from results. You cannot have it prior to getting started. So,
at Dreamlight, I strive to get into action and results QUICKLY.
Progress is far more important than perfection, since progress
gives you confidence and a sense of control and "good feel".
By support, I
refer to the fact that most pro's out there will not tell you
how they do it. They will want to hold on to their secrets
tight. At Dreamlight, our entire community and motto is we learn
each day and love to share how it's done.
Without these
parts you'll be drifting, wasting time and getting frustrated,
since believe me, 3D art is BIG. It never truly ends since
there's always something else we can discover.
Having that said, I
know that you're a unique aspiring artist, and that you may lean
into different topics. At Dreamlight, we teach everything from
female art, 3D animation, 3D modeling (creating content),
fantasy / sci-fi to making money off your hobby.
I know most artists
don't exactly have unlimited funds, so we focus on low cost
training with weekly videos.

easier on you, I want to give you a cool

What Others Say About Dreamlight
See what other artists say about Dreamlight:
"Your class has improved both my understanding of 3D lighting,
and my confidence in my ability to light my scenes and produce
art I can be proud of. I have found your class to be
well-designed, intelligent, and if you'll excuse the expression,
illuminating.",
Angela Knight - 3D artist, New York Times bestselling author
"Dreamlight's lighting training is exactly how I would teach
someone to do lighting. The expert advice is obviously derived
from years of practical experience. Having someone to show you
how to light and then explain why things work is the fastest way
to truly learn the in's and out's of this essential skill.",
Michael Ambruso - Professional 3D Artist
"If we are lucky, in our lifetime we earn the privilege of
getting to know and work with someone who can only be described
as a genius. Since 2005 I have watched Val Cameron share the
incredible genius he has for 3D Art with countless others all
over the world in way that allows them to learn and grow from
his seemingly limitless experience and talent. His patient and
caring coaching style has empowered others to expand their
understanding of what is possible to a point where the
impossible, suddenly becomes reality!",

Who's Dreamlight Anyway?
Val Cameron from Dreamlight
Val is a DAZ Studio veteran, having been using the software
since 2005, and teaching thousands of 3D artists how
to create better 3D art with ease. Val has created 2,000+
video tutorials, light sets, props and add-ons and is well known and respected for his calm,

With his background in the adult movie industry in the US,
Hollywood and
Europe, his vast experience behind the camera and video editing
brings a unique flavor to the art community. As a kid during the
early 80's, he was literally glued to his home computer,
designing games and graphics. Being born poor, Val is the
perfect example of a school drop out, that got fired from his
job during the low economy and still created something
extraordinary out of thin air.
